GOLD
- Halmilton Artist Inc, ON. July 23-25 1999 +
Eastern Edge Gallery NFLD. August 7-12 1999 GOLD a performance / installation was part of the TRUNK© GOLD / RUSH project. It played on the tension of the splendor and the secrecy of treasures. By taking the image of the owner secretly counting his treasure into the open (usually in parking lots), and giving viewers the chance to “handle” the heap themselves with the thick leather gloves provided, GOLD was working with the private and the public space occupied by treasures. It also questioned the meaning of wealth. The pile of gold was actually made up of broken glass lit by yellow lights. Project supported by the Canada Council for the Arts |
